"Ava's doing what?" Yes, a Marathon. That's 26.2 miles For Dad & For the Cure!
Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns they have leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. On November 5, 2002 this statistic became a reality for my family when my dad was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), an aggressive cancer of the blood. Since his diagnosis, my dad has been in and out of the hospital and is still undergoing chemotherapy.
Did you know that Leukemia research is considered to be the window to the treatment and cure for all cancers and AIDS? How many people do you know who have been affected by these terrible diseases? I am asking each of you for your support, because with your help, we can find the cure! On June 1, 2003 I will be racewalking in my first ever marathon (26.2 miles!) with TEAM IN TRAINING - the world's largest sports & endurance training program - with efforts of raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Along with my training, I have set a personal fundraising goal of $4,000, of which over 75% will go back to The Society for research, patient services, advocacy & education! I will not only appreciate your much needed prayers and encouragement throughout my training, but also your donations. Everyone's support is needed in the fight for a cure...no effort is too great or small...every bit helps! Tell your friends to stop by and visit...and be sure to sign my guest book! Cheers!
